2026-2027 Scholarship Program
The Murdoch Center Foundation, Inc. is offering two academic scholarships valued at $1,500 each for the 2026-2027 academic year. These scholarships are intended for qualified applicants and are specifically designed to support the educational goals of Murdoch Center Employees.
One of the two scholarships, known as The Almekinders Family Scholarship, is dedicated to applicants pursuing a Nursing degree.
To be eligible, for either scholarship, applicants must be Murdoch Center Employees and demonstrate a commitment to serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This commitment should be evident through the applicant’s chosen field of service or position within the NC DHHS Developmental Centers.
Eligible candidates must be either undergraduate students or individuals working toward a graduate degree, with the intent of supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Student must meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for his/her respective scholarship:
- Have an acceptance letter from the college/university or be a full-time college student or graduate student.
- Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher, or a graduate cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
- Demonstrate evidence of volunteer or paid experience in human services.Â
The student must submit the following to apply for the scholarship:
- Murdoch Center Foundation Scholarship Application Form
- School acceptance letter (if applicable)
- At least one letter of reference from employer, community leader, professor or high school professional.
- OFFICIAL College Transcript or high school transcript.
