Spring and Summer are popular times of the year for both staff and the people who live at Murdoch Developmental Center. The campus comes alive with various outdoor activities. These include cookouts under the pavilion, Special Olympics events, walks around the Story Trail, ice cream parties, kite flying, and dining outside on picnic tables. Additionally, many flowers bloom across the campus, especially around Summerset Cottage.
The Murdoch Center Foundation has contributed funds for many of these activities and amenities. From new shade canopies at the Special Olympics field, to picnic tables across campus, to steppingstones for the Story Trail, the Foundation touches the lives of many. Board member Sally Almekinders transplanted several rose bushes to the garden at Summerset Cottage, where they have bloomed exceptionally well this year. As this warm weather season gets underway, we see the excitement of many as they await trips to Camp Eason, boat rides, fishing, lake views, and overnight camping trips. It’s a beautiful enjoyable season at the Center.
